Trend Platter: A Brisk Illustration of Fashion Variety and Mix-and-Match

Bringing Out the Accent of a Trendy Japanese Fashion Brand

The client of this project is a trendy Japanese fashion brand. Being at the forefront of the ongoing changing styles and trends, the brand has a target market of young people who aspire to be trendsetters. As an implementation of our profound philosophy of client-designer dynamics, the designers and the client reached a consensus upon the design concept to give a brisk illustration of the brand’s features of “variety” and “mix-and-match”. Thus, “Trend Platter” brings out the brand’s accent via a wide variety of trendy design styles ranging from classical and vintage to modern and minimal. The vaulted ceiling in black presents fashion in a classical way while the checkered floor gives a vintage look. The white area shows minimalistic simplicity, while the modern zone is filled with the cool black and metallic colors.

In spite of the similarity in the styles of clothing of the various collections, visual variety and richness are attained as the clothes are foregrounded by the various decoration styles. In other words, very different perceptions are born to the same clothes under different custom-designed backgrounds, making it a creative approach to highlighting the trait of the brand.

This project was completed in 2010 and is located in Shanghai, China. The design was executed by Design Systems Ltd, led by designer Lam Wai Ming. The unique combination of classical, vintage, modern, and minimal elements creates a visually captivating space that reflects the brand's identity and appeals to its target market.

Recognized for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity, Trend Platter was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2012. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
